Haworth, West Yorkshire - Visiting Bronte Country
This is a place very close to my home so I am lucky enough to be able to venture here pretty much whenever I want to and if you know a little about Haworth, I can go back in time a little and visit the cobbled Main Street, take in the KWVR Steam Railway and walk on the Stunning moorland surrounding Haworth.
Haworth also host many events throughout each year like the Haworth 1940's weekend and the Haworth Steam Punk Weekend.
That's why I wrote this blog about Haworth along with its many photos of Haworth and the surrounding area.

As a Travel Photographer and Blogger it's a pleasure to be visit Beautiful Haworth, probably known mostly for its links as the Home of the Brontes Family and the Bronte Sisters novels written back in the 1800's.
Haworth is full of history and has plenty of old architectural building to see from times gone by which you can visit, as well as taking a walk up and down the preserved Cobbled Main Street where you'll find many independent and unique shops, a number of wonderful coffee shops, cafes and independent restaurants as well as a few places to drink if you're wanting something a little stronger than just a coffee.
There's also the historical Keighley & Worth Valley Steam Railway passing through the bottom of the village which I'll write more about another time.
There are also lots of special events held in Haworth from around March / Easter time right up to Christmas.
Choose the right weekend to visit and you can find the place has gone back in time to the 1940's or moved to an alternate reality with a Steampunk takeover which is always very interesting especially for Photographers like myself. Along with more traditional events like the Haworth Christmas Torchlight Procession in December.

Haworth is more than just a tourist village, it's also home to a lot of local people who use the main street, its shops, the church and other amenities just as everyone else does in their own home village, town or city.
In Haworth you'll find lots of links to the Bronte family, and historical places associated with the Brontë's like the Bronte Parsonage Museum. The Bronte Parsonage Museum is a must place to visit when in Haworth with it's historical items and wealth of information about the Bronte Family.
Also take a look inside St Michael & All Angels Church and see the splendid interior, if you're really lucky, the church organist will be playing some hymns on the church organ as you visit this special place.
The church also holds its regular services where you would be welcome to attend, as well as holding private weddings which often attract an audience of onlookers outside from the visitors to the village.

Haworth Main Street has a great collection of independent small shops selling a variety of items from the obvious Haworth Souvenirs, 1940's Memorabilia, Clothing, Books, Jewellery and many other gift items.
You'll also find a few Tea Shops like the 1940's style Tea For Two and other coffee shops along with a few more traditional styled.
There's also Restaurants to eat in as well as pubs to eat and drink at so there's something for most peoples tastes.
At the bottom of Main Street you'll find Haworth Park which is often a great place to go to avoid the crowds on Main Street.
Take a breather and enjoy a stroll or a sit in the park and take in the greenery and wonderful flowers in the summer months.
Here you'll also find a pop up makers market thats usually on every 3rd Sunday of the month (except Jan & Feb).
Most if not all take Card Payments so no need to worry about having cash on you when you visit.

If you pop out of the park at the bottom you'll find the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway taking you back in time to the age of the Steam Trains, as well as some diesel engines, travelling along the line between Oxenhope and Keighley including Oakworth which is know for its appearance in The Railway Children and the newer The Railway Children Return.
If you leave the village from the top and head out onto the moorlands you can take a walk out to Bronte Falls, unfortunately it's not as grand as it sounds but its still nice to visit with some great views along the way.
You'll also find Top Withens which is though to be the inspiration for the Wuthering Heights novel.
