The best christmas market to visit in the north of england....
When it's that time of year again and your looking to get into the festive spirit, buy some gifts and find some enjoyment for yourself as the winter months roll in one of the favourite places is to visit a Christmas Market.
I must admit, I'm not a big Christmas Fan but it does give me the opportunity to pop out with the camera and take some street photography shots even when the weather is cold, wet and generally miserable.
And when I'm there I do tend to enjoy the whole experience of the market and the Christmas Vibe.
For photographers its a great place to try a new type of photography from the normal landscape shots of the countryside that most photographers start out out.

It's usually spread around in the heart of the city rather than just being one small group in just one place.
If you're shopping for Christmas Gifts its great to wander around the city, as you turn down another street you not only find the shops that are there all year round but you usually find another group of Christmas Stalls to admire or buy from, it all helps you to experience that Christmas Vibe.

There's everything here from the usually Christmas decorations to the Unusual Christmas decorations, lots of food and drinks on offer including the usual favourite Brockwurst Sausages and plenty of german beers on offer along with lots of independent pop up businesses with lots of very different ideas for your family and Friends Christmas Gifts. And virtually all the traders have Portable Card Payment Machines.
I like to get the Train to Manchester rather than drive not because of traffic or parking costs or issues but because its a chance to also relax, have a bite to eat and a drink or two immersed in the Christmas spirit.
A happy relaxed photographer always comes away with some great shots with the camera.

You can get some great city scape shots in the town especially when it gets darker and all the coloured lights stand out so brightly along with the shop windows and the many market stalls, sheds, huts.
If you get the opportunity get up high and look down on the market below and take a few shots giving you another different and interesting angle.
The market areas are great for getting a variety of interesting commercial photography shot, and again in the dark, you can get some great photographs of the sellers and their products and the people as they browse, buy and generally enjoy the offerings from the traders.
Oh and don't forget the people, at the Christmas Markets it's a get the opportunity to practice your street photography . There's lots of interesting people going about their lives whether its a trader in one of the huts or a member of the general public just enjoying life.
